Worth noting that because Sim brought forward his proposal for a property tax freeze requiring millions in cuts with just weeks left in the budget process, this is not up for public debate and is not outlined in the documents available to councillors when they vote on this
SCOOP: Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim is planning to eliminate the city's sustainability and climate department under the guise of a push to prevent increases to property taxes in his proposed 2026 budget.
Great source work by Marc Fawcett-Atkinson to uncover this

I’m gonna come out and say it: Vancouver is having a spectacular fall.

- Minimal rain
- But also nice CRISP temperatures, puts us in the season
- Summer not too hot, so trees kept their leaves, creating full cover for nice colours
- No elections or giant weather events to distract from joy

A sad skill we all need to acquire. You have to learn to recognize the videos that are too sharp and too blurry at the same time, to see the shifting edges and blurred transitions.

If for no other reason, you'll need it to help protect your aging parents.
I genuinely cannot express how vital it is that you train yourself to recognize AI-generated images and videos for your own good because none of this is going away and many, many people are counting on you to fall for their shit

Ah, there it is. There's the picture you'll see in the textbook.

Chapter 7: Fascism in the United States
This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

In August 1941, a new superhero debuted in Canadian comic books.
For the next six years, Canadians read the stories of an Inuk woman who protected the Canadian North.
She even predated the creation of Wonder Woman.
This is the story of Nelvana of the Northern Lights.

Election day in a country that has had a fair and free vote for generations.

Where all the opposition parties are free to take power.

Where virtually everyone will accept the election result.

After my last year, it’s a history and a privilege I’m more grateful for than ever.

Let’s get at it.

Hallelujah! Finally. So sick of seeing people coming in for sick notes. Our drs have been adding “this note is unnecessary and places a burden on our already stressed healthcare system” to shame employers asking for this.
