It was indeed an elderly Mac. Just got the final word that it would be $1,200 to $2,500, I think (I tuned out after $1,200!) if they were even able to recover it. So, it’s gone. There goes my writing idea and research file, but I have a lot of other resources for my next project, so I’ll get by!

Now my dead computer is at another computer store overnight. If they can recover the data, it could cost anywhere from $250 to $2,500, which I will not pay. I will develop better backup habits going forward!

Exactly, he is so worried about my tech issues! Luckily, his photos are on my phone. I just got a call that the next step is a data recovery center affiliated with Apple. I’ll know tomorrow. Sigh!

Back up your data. Don’t just put in on your list to do. Do it frequently. I’m spending my weekend at the Apple Store. Still not sure if the data can be recovered. (Maybe everyone is better at this than I was!)

Ok, I just got this little guy for my mom when she was in the hospital. I had to look it up to see what it was. It’s a mouse. I hope it’s ok to add stuffed mouse content to this thread.

I was 9 and wanted to be a songwriter. Then Heart’s “Dog and Butterfly” came out and, since I was a huge fan of dogs and butterflies, I thought everything had been done at that point. I had nothing more to contribute.

Table tipping - a pastime/seance/fad that began in the 1800s. Tables coming up on two legs and answering questions! There are still circles of interest and practitioners, but it has mostly died out.

As if there's not enough to be upset about right now, I finally showed my kids Broadcast News last night and one of them promptly fell asleep while the other, possibly to troll me, started vocally rooting for William Hurt.
