“I’m worried about my community… I’m out here in a frog costume to show how ridiculous the notion that we’re violent terrorists is, and showcase how that narrative is wrong…”

Serious Q: is it too late to give this dude the Nobel Peace Prize? 🐸 🏆

Ok, did not expect “The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe” to feel quite so relevant to this moment.

Here’s Edmund, deciding to side with the leader who he’s been told disappears people.
He did want Turkish Delight and to be a prince (and later a king) and to pay Peter out for calling him a beast. As for what the Witch would do with the others, he didn't want her to be particularly nice to them - certainly not to put them on the same level as himself; but he managed to believe, or to pretend he believed, that she wouldn't do anything very bad to them, 'Because,' he said to himself, 'all these people who say nasty things about her are her enemies and probably half of it isn't true. She was jolly nice to me, anyway, much nicer than they are. I expect she is the rightful Queen really. Anyway, she'll be better than that awful Aslan!' At least, that was the excuse he made in his own mind for what he was doing. It wasn't a very good excuse, however, for deep down inside him he really knew that the White Witch was bad and cruel.

This is wild!

Do they think that by planting DWP staff in GP surgeries, that this will help people with mental health issues.

I suspect it will make people think twice about going to their surgery and people will become more ill.

WHO is coming up with these ideas??

BREAKING: Specialist employment advisers will be based in GP surgeries and mental health services as part of government plans to get people back to work.

Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden speaks to #BBCBreakfast about the government’s plan to tackle long-term sickness

Yes! I remember the time we were told it was banned. The PE teacher told us some story about a kid at another who jumped off the high equipment trying to get away and had to go to hospital. Truly a sad day!

Ours was removed a few years ago, but I still used it 😥 I think because I had great memories of it from my own education in the 80s. Back then, we used to play a game called pirates (a chasing game on the equipment) but it was banned for being too dangerous.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

We all hoped the Windrush scandal would be shame enough. But no. The Tory party plumbs new depths with its vile rhetoric. Nothing good comes from their prejudice. But our communities prove them wrong every day.
Important response to Jenrick from @sathnam.bsky.social

I sang Jerusalem with Robert Jenrick at school - he's wrong about race
• NEW
The Conservative MP has complained that, visiting Handsworth in Birmingham, he didn't see'another white face. You can't judge whether someone is integrated by skin colour, argues fellow Wulfrunian Sathnam
Sanghera I hoped that the outrage about this scandal across the political spectrum demonstrated we were finally moving away from such thinking.
But Jenrick's remarks show that we are, in 2025, in an even worse place.
The comments are a symptom of a new cult of ethno-nationalism, imported from the USA and supercharged by bad actors on social media. Suddenly, a great many people - including, bizarrely, Suella Braverman - are keen on the racist idea that you simply can't be English and non-white.

Heseltine at the Tory conf:

"Fascists of the 30s are back... Trump's language coincides with words here... The immigrant has replaced the Jew as the problem. We must make clear we will never have any part in the populist extremism of Farage... We don't need Trump's mouthpiece anywhere near No. 10.”

This is something that's been worrying me since it was announced a few months ago.

I've been here for 4 years, have invested in this country, believe in the future of it, am literally teaching the children of it, but the thought I won't be able to be treated as a citizen is disturbing to me.

Tbh, the whole anti-migrant rhetoric is already making my friends on ILR look at moving.

Of course, they’re all the ones with the money and talent *to* move. Which isn’t what politicians are selling as the consequence of ILR-bashing. But it’s what will happen.
The 10 year wait for Indefinite Leave to Remain will make the UK very unattractive for high skilled workers who often have alternatives. 2019 data (excluding the NHS and universities) shows that high skilled workers on visas are heavily concentrated in multinationals who can move jobs abroad (5/x)

Psychologist we saw next was better, but if anything she was worse as she went full tilt on exposure therapy. Paediatrician and psychiatrist we've seen recently have been ace, but it's now a much more complex picture that could have been avoided had initial strategies not poured accelerant on it.
