I honestly can't wait for this bubble to burst. This is such an utter waste of money on both a practical and human level.

I don't understand how any of this is easier than just raising the damn cap, which the commissioner gets to do at her discretion. If teams don't want to spend to the cap, current, or future, maybe they need to reevaluate being a team in this league.

Big news broke last night on the Trinity Rodman front as a possible NWSL solution may be coming. In addition we look at a #Bundesliga first, #USMNT history, Women's Champions League results and we try to sneak in as many Paris FC references as possible. All that and more in Thursday's Freedom Kicks.
Rodman Rule Incoming?, USMNT Players Make History, A Bundesliga First, More World Cup Drama, Paris FC, and more: Thursday Freedom Kicks
Happy Thursday! Yesterday seemed like a really quiet day for local soccer news. I was all prepared to have nothing local to discuss. Then, just after I finished my first draft, it all changed and a possible ray of hope in the Trinity Rodman contract situation broke through the clouds. In addition to that it was a big day of soccer in Europe.

A few minutes into watching vids about shiny hunting in Z-A, it was painfully clear that a certain controller manufacturer was pushing content creators to mention their products in the exact same offhanded way and it left the nastiest taste in my mouth. We live in hell!
We're in an era where "social" feeds largely function not as a way to connect with humans, but a place to find commerce-related content. Pew found that 62 percent of adults on TikTok are there to find product recommendations or reviews. Even "educational" content tends to morph into a commercial

It’s a DC spurts rule that we can never have more than one team be successful at a time.

There was so much hope, man. So much hope. 30+ years of mediocrity and poor management are going to be the death knell of this franchise and fanbase.
As demoralizing an afternoon for the Commanders as you can have. There will have to be a lot of hard conversations about everything this offseason - personnel, scheme, coaching - because you’re getting worked by a 4-8 team, you’ve lost eight straight, and your franchise QB can’t stay healthy.

Going to have to get into the theatrical release game then.
Netflix has won the bidding war to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, and is now moving forward with a deal potentially worth over $70 billion.

Should their bid succeed, Netflix would own DC Comics, Harry Potter, Hanna-Barbera, HBO, and more.

Keeping Trinity Rodman is imperative if the NWSL wants to compete with the European leagues. Jessica Berman and league officials can’t let PTSD from the past keep them from making this deal.

*turns off lizard brain* The fact that all this is playing out in public the way that it is is not necessarily a bad thing for Trinity and the Spirit. We see this frequently in other sports during contract negotiations. The league loses credibility the longer this goes on and they can't afford it.

If the Spirit think the contract is legal under the CBA, and the NWSL Players Association thinks it's legal under the CBA, and Berman is saying something about violating the "spirit" of the CBA, it's extremely clearly legal under the CBA right

This is how a $1m cap hit fits in a $3.5m salary cap. That's pretty doable. I've seen dozens of MLS wage scales that are similar in ratio. Nothing about this looks out of order in soccer or, frankly, in any office suite in America.
