This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

Really is the best city
Freaking love this city and all the people in it so much….a bunch of people went and turned the 4 train into the Polar Express giving out toys to kids along the way from the Bronx to Brooklyn….shoutout to the @newyorkers.live account on IG for doing this 🙏 www.instagram.com/reel/DSnsvWS...

It’s hard to feel sinister in pajamas. If more people wore pajamas all day there would be less evil in the world. Or at least the evil would be more embarrassing.

This is pretty brilliant and I’d love to see it
I wonder what would happen if bbc news paid for 30 second unskippable news broadcasts as YouTube adverts. Kind of like pathe news at cinemas.

Not even the 10th worst thing this week but I've been thinking about the new plaques he installed. Someone engraved those things, matted and framed the autopen etc. I'm fascinating by the people quietly going about their business doing terrible things.

White House installs plaques mocking former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden
The Biden plaque refers to him as “Sleepy Joe Biden” and calls him “the worst President in American History.”

Something uniquely sad and eerie about coming across an abandoned playground in the woods. But also this is just what all our playgrounds in New Jersey looked like when I was a kid, so it takes me back.

Healing words
“Of course, it doesn’t feel right to want IT to HAPPEN. And it’s obviously not okay to try to make IT HAPPEN. That’s not what this is ABOUT, just to make things CLEAR LEGALLY as far as VARIOUS AGENCIES are concerned.”

When It Happens
It’s been so long, you sometimes forget that eventually, IT will HAPPEN. It’s impossible to say when IT will HAPPEN. But it can’t be too long until...

fwiw, we can absolutely primary house members a lot sooner & this *should* be career ruining for anyone who voted in favor of this twisted shit

they’re creating these bills with immigrant and/or trans minors first to develop a permission structure to violate everyone’s children
BREAKING: The House of Representatives just passed a bill that would subject immigrant children to invasive bodily searches and keep them in detention instead of releasing them to their families.

The Senate must vote no on this horrific bill.

So grateful for the amazing graduate students who wrote this 'Open Letter on The New School’s “Restructuring” Plans', published on @eflux.bsky.social (including link with petition to condemn admin!) @newschoolaaup.bsky.social www.e-flux.com/notes/678343...
Open Letter on The New School’s “Restructuring” Plans - Notes - e-flux
Signed by hundreds of faculty, students, and supporters, this letter refutes the claim that a radical “restructuring” of the The New School for Social Research is financially necessary.

So the one vulnerable group she’s suddenly interested in protecting from the administration is the Greene family.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "It's easy for me to say a prayer for him and forgive him. But the part that I have had a very hard time with is the fact that he called me a traitor, and because of his words, that brought serious threats against myself and my family."

If the US downed a commercial passenger jet flying out of an unfavored (nonwhite) country on suspicion that someone on board was carrying drugs, and then fired on any survivors clinging to debris in the ocean, how would it really be any different?
December 5, 2025 at 7:46 PM
What culture might that be?
Rep. Kat Cammarck: "Today, one in six people in the US is foreign born. That quite frankly is not sustainable to maintain a culture that we are known for here in the United States."

To be fair my plants are dead and I agreed to donate a lot of the books years ago. It could be so much worse.
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

An older watercolour drawing from when I used to make frequent trips to sketch in London. This shows the Embankment with lots of pigeons, a pavement artist and a couple of Japanese young women on one of the benches. This was sold at an exhibition.

I don’t know why people say macarons are sooooo difficult. Note the characteristic feet on these pistachio garbage cookies.

This. We are the dumbest when it comes to thinking about what we pay for things and what we give up. And the worst part is that this dumbness is exploited so we never question the state of things.
i wonder how much of Americans' views on driving vs. transit would change if they had to pay for gas/insurance/etc every time they turned on the engine

"i'm not paying $5 to take the train to work twice a day when i can just drive" is a genuine opinion held by so many people

What I like most about this monkey lamp - and there is a lot to like - is the way he seems to be turning back to look at you before entering the room, as if to say: Come with me if you want to live.

Down cemetery road is maybe the goofiest show I’ve seen this year. I have just no idea what I’m watching or how it’s supposed to make sense. It’s batty.

I saw something about sharing the published work you’re most proud of from this year. It’s been a quiet year. So here’s a note I took in April. I never wrote the story but I’m proud of the note.

I’d want to move to Oslo because of this, but even more I want to see this as not crazy right here. To just take care of each other and happily pay for that kind of world. Because it’s f-ing normal.
