We are smart enough to solve climate change but stupid enough not to. Then complain when displaced people move to our country. Old enough to remember when politicians had morals and journalists held them accountable.

So Labor and the Liberals teamed up to pass legislation to give police the power to recommend cancellation of Centrelink payments of people who have not been found guilty of a crime by a court of law. It’s discriminatory financial punishment of people in poverty who are already over-policed

I'm Jewish. I grew up in an observant home. My bar mitzvah was at a Lubavitch shul. My parents were ardent Zionists who donated to the Jewish National Fund and AIPAC as birthday presents.

If *I* can recognize Israel is a genocidal apartheid state and become antizionist, so can you.

There is no bottom to how ashamed you can feel of the Australian government. The waves of previous refugees and immigrants made Australia interesting. Not even going to start on food culture.
Last night @davidpocock.bsky.social and I read onto the Hansard an interview by the President of Nauru that the Albanese Government has been desperately trying to keep secret.

It shows Nauru plans to send refugees to places they fled. No wonder the secrecy.

Rule number 1, keep the serfs happy. Make them feel rich by their housing prices going up. Its pathetic - 2 generations ago everyone had a house, the better off had a beach house. Now, everyone is a genius because they made money in housing. They didnt build or create anything.

Nailed it! The list could go on ... Naru, DV, education, environment. But this is a great piece.
Instead #ALP have replaced ACTIONS to reform our failing and #corrupted #governance systems, #climate denial, unaffordable #housing & rising #inequality, with words about ‘kindness’ & #laws to make #protests a #crime and being an ‘activist’ a negative description that costs you your job! #auspol
“They were elected on a promise of integrity. They vowed to be kinder, more transparent, and to govern for all Australians. The Albanese government presented itself as the antidote to a decade of Coalition cruelty and chaos.” (Quote).

You need to shut and lock the door on offsetting. It’s not a valid concept. Once habitats are gone they’re gone. If you leave the door ajar as you have here a charlatan’s foot will find it. Even the notion (there is no reality) of “like for like” offsetting accelerates biodiversity loss:
