Awareness alone isn’t enough. Prejudice & misinformation also make people “aware,” just of the wrong things. Real awareness isn’t about fear or debate, it’s about truth, care & responsibility. Trans people aren’t abstractions; they’re friends, neighbors & family, all deserving safety, dignity & joy.

I also joined because of poverty in a way. My family wasn’t necessarily poor but they wouldn’t pay for me to go to college. So I left home via the only method I saw available to me. He’s completely correct on all points here and I wish there were more white vets that spoke out about this. 👏👏👏
