How often do we forget about the simple things and we take them for granted, until they become background noise?

Everything can change in an instant. Gratitude keeps us awake to what matters…

Grief, for all its heaviness, returns us to the pulse of life. In the aching, we remember what mattered. In the longing, we rediscover how deeply we’re capable of loving.

I grew up at the #windy
end of the world. Sometimes
I couldn't even turn the corner
& get to our front door.
Now, almost 39 years later,
the wind has blown away
most of my childhood memories
& I am asking myself: How
do you #measure loss
& memory?

Grief opens us, stretches us, and reveals parts of us we often keep hidden.

If you’re in or around the area of Vienna, Austria I will be holding a monthly grief support group in-person. You’re welcome to join. Registration required. Link in bio.

I've started to read fiction again, after a hiatus of several years. It hasn't taken me long to conclude that at my age, life is just too short for badly-written, ineptly edited police procedurals. In my earlier days, I rarely gave up on a book I'd started, but I've abandoned 3 in the last 2 days!

Tell yourself
as it gets cold and gray falls from the air that you will go on walking, hearing
the same tune no matter where you find yourself—
inside the dome of dark or under the cracking white
of the moon's gaze in a valley of snow.
