I'm coming up on page 200 for Deep Water this next Thursday on Comicfury! I wanted to do a pretty splash page for pg 201 this is one of the concepts. When I'm doing a splash or a cover I usually run a concept or a draft first. Still can't get sunbeams underwater quite right-lol

Nereocystis, Mermaids bladder- but most popularly known as Bull Kelp!
Maybe its the color scheme? I'm not sure myself but painting kelp forests is always a very calming thing for me. Good thing a lot of the comic takes place under water!

I think maybe a fourth of the people who stopped by my booth picked up my comic? They didn't buy it, and I'm grateful for the encouraging comments- But even my partner noticed that no one was buying comics at the last two comic conventions we were at.
