This is mercantilism. The president is the master of a big tax farm, and you’re the cash cow. The country is considered rich insofar as money flows toward the ruler and then stops.

Every modern economic theory, from Marxism to Milton Friedman, has rejected mercantilist thinking.

I guess my unpopular opinion is that the idea that we need more adults in the future so we should structure society to produce more children now is gross.

By all means help kids and help parents because we need it, but this population planning stuff is icky

Very common belief on the far left and right. They don’t understand these jobs. They just know that these people earn more than them and that that is unfair.

Surely they could do just as well. It couldn’t possibly be true that these sorts of jobs require rare and specialized skills they don’t have

American companies generate a tremendous amount of wealth in the upper-middle class range. People getting paid $200,000, $300,000, and $400,000 per year and up.

These are not necessarily extremely difficult jobs, either. Hence the large competition for the spoils.

We are giving away massive wealth in this cohort to foreigners, allowing them to buy property in this country and drive up prices, or suck the wealth out of the country and buy up properties in their foreign lands.
