Read @people.com's story of the Tarabishis to the bottom. Then just sit with it for a few minutes and ask yourself what we, as a country, stand for right now.

Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

I must have missed all the Law and Order SVU episodes where they didn't interview the victims and just asked the criminals what happened.

I rarely post personal things. But I need to talk about my 4-year-old niece, Hope.

She has a rare disease. A drug called elamipretide has helped her survive.

But the FDA recently denied its approval.

Now, her health hangs in the balance.

Please share her story & urge the FDA to reconsider. 🧵

Today’s decision out of Rhode Island isn’t getting a lot of attention, but it’s very important. Trump tried to withhold fed’l funds from states that won’t help with his immigration policy & mass deportations. A Judge just told him he can’t do that. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

It’s obvious but worth drawing out what raids of Home Depot’s of all places is about. It’s rounding up people who are really eager for work and for whom there is work, peoples whose labor is in demand. We know this but shows just how far it is from rounding up just the bad guys.
