It's not great when your one joke feels old before the OP, especially if the only support is ho-hum animation. Feels like manga would be better since you control the pacing more.

technically animated 'jokes' about a working dad eating lunch.

I only made it through the first set up.

science saru makes the kind of fever dream anime that in my youth I had assumed all anime was. Am I in this for the long haul? IDK, but I highly recommend the experience of walking in blind to episode 1. holy shoot.

In the centre of the poster is a gruff man with a white beard/mustaches, wearing a red jacket, mid punch. He seems to have broken a glass window of some kind as glass and glass shards are exploding out around the poster from his first. In front, there's a cute blond boy with a determined looking, a guy with slick black hair waving, and a very tall girl with darkly rimmed eyes and... she is very casually wielding a knife. glass shards in the upper half of the poster reflect faces of yet more chracters and barely visible in the background is a very tall school building with a japanese flag.

A well done set-up episode, but it's nearly entirely set up. I am a sucker for anime where Ayakashi are a normal, integrated part of society; less of a fan of the traditional samurai hairstyle though...

Two men in traditional clothes and samurai hair styles have opened the sliding doors and are gesturing welcomingly to us. Behind them is a young man sitting in seiza (traditional Japanese sitting posture). There's a foppish man lying on the ground beside him wielding a fan, some little critters on the floor, and a couple more characteers in the background. Two of them, a woman and a... firey winged dog thing, are flying or floating.

Entirely too many characters. Appears to be entirely women surrounding one bland-looking guy, as is trash isekai/ICBINI tradition. The background is just black with falling glowing rectangles (maybe, MAYBE meant to represent gacha cards if I'm being generous).
There's a woman in golden armor, a maid showing a bunch of cleavage, a knight, a catgirl (but the ears and paws seem to be from her outfit) and a mage. Only the maid's outfit is egregious. Bland guy has a stave instead of a sword though so I guess that's different.

That episode of anime was a blast.
my main question after the first episode is:
that was a complete story so what the fuck are we doing with the rest of the season?

In the foreground is a noble lady ina beautiful, full red dress with long silver hair. She has black spiked fingerless gloves on and is about to throw a punch. Behind her are a selection of young noblemen. Behind all of them another, particularly punchable looking nobleman with an arm around a very pink girl: pink hair, big pink dress. potion, wagami wo tasukeru

A deeply basic anime; the motion manga style animation, simple plot explained in slow exacting detail, a simple, childish art design. I had an OK time watching it, I could watch more, but it doesn't feel like it's bringing much to the table.

A young girl with a brown bob smiles at the camera. She has a childish blue dress with white pan collar and cuffs (maybe white pants/leggings under too?). She has an over the shoulder bag that looks stuffed, and has cat (or maybe fox?) ears. Behind her, just barely visible is a fox girl. Flying all around her are potion bottles that are nearly cube shaped. Most are green, but a couple are blue. The green colour matches the colour of the fairy flying in the upper left corner. Her dress is cute and poofy, as are her ankle boots. Her hair ends in spirals, including a single long spiral bang.

high school rom com anime elevated by a sense of sweet earnestness and some interesting visual choices.
it's also made for ME because I AM the tall girl.

A tall, hunky blond guy stands with his hands in his pockets, but his body language is leaning slightly towards the girl and he's smiling openly looking towards her. The girl's body language is shy, but she's looking towards him. they're in a high school classroom, with a green curtain blowing rfom the window. The desks are empty, and there are hexagonal shaped particle effects making the whole thing seem quite bright. The japanese name of the anime is written in orange at the bottom.

(I mean I technically dropped the manga just cuz it was *fine* not cuz I had problems. hopeful for the anime adaptation).

FALL ANIME SEASON FIRST IMPRESSIONS!

Yep, it's that time again. Follow this thread as I watch the first episode of virtually everything in the season.

The 'Dog' (it is definitely a Tanuki although I'm only acknowledging that for the sake of alt text clarity and otherwise will maintain the joke of them being a dog forever fyi). It's eyes are unseeable due to the dark facial markings they have. They have a leaf on their head. They are holding up a little notepad that says "eh?" in Japanese.

I can't believe it's not isekai with an incredibly bland main character who is going to be the most OP guy around even though he doesn't have a class; which makes that worldbuilding meaningless in addition to being trite.

Right up in the camera is a blond girl smiling brightly. We can only see her shoulders up; behind her is a woman with long red hair in a ponytail wearing armour. Behind both fo them is an incredibly bored looking guy with black hair and a sword on his hip. They seem to be in a medival town square of some kind.

80s anime remake; definitely 80s sensibilities. If the thefts being very easy to pick apart is going to make you crazy, I'd stay clear. But it's campy so I'm willing to give it a go.

That was a very fun first episode. The anime has some nice artistic tableaus that make me excited for what could come. It feels more thought out than the average isekai drivel.
