I am officially entering my sentient pile of blankets stage of the year. If anyone needs me, I will be gleefully in a hoodie, under a blanket, in front of a space heater, while clutching a warm mug of tea.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
Doing your civic duty is important, even outside major elections. Georgia's public service commission election is important this year! Also, heck the conservatives. It's cold and rainy and still a beautiful day to see them out of office.

“You can’t blame the current economic collapse on Reagan’s policies and Thatcher’s policies!”

Watch me.
There is no pain like going to the effort of customizing a resume and cover letter for a role only to find the listing has been pulled down 😭
Oh damn it, I have costume monarch wings and I wasn't that clever! Gonna have to steal that
Speak up. It's scary, but you never know who you're helping in the process (also the dopamine hit of someone saying thank you because you said something they also wanted to say is unreal)
I feel like I talk about it weekly and probably always will. People are so scared of the disabled label and afraid to ask about AT that could genuinely help them. It's right up there with the curb cut effect on my list of things I can and will endlessly discuss with anyone willing to listen

Self-care: When my youngest cat Jasper jumps onto my tiny desk and flops down on top of my keyboard, instead of shushing him away, I take a three-minute petting break.
Hi, have you met yourself? 💙

I wrote about Alma, Rodney Taylor and the various ways ICE is a risk to the disability community.

They don’t care about accommodations.

They’ve dismantled the oversight committees.

People are dying and becoming disabled inside these camps, and we must speak out:
Disabled People are Being Mistreated in ICE Detention Facilities
Why is no one talking about it? Where's the media? Where's the public outcry? Another example of the pervasive nature of ableism and how society views disabled people as expendable.

Does anyone make sensory friendly appliances? Specifically I'm hoping for a blender that doesn't sound like it's going to rattle the house to pieces

i simply did not have the disney adult antifascist reading list on my late capital declining democracy bingo card and that’s on me
And even knowing these thoughts are completely illogical, still walking away feeling vaguely nervous I did something wrong instead of relieved to have knocked out a task my car has been disgruntled about for over a week
Anxiety is being VERY familiar with your car and refilling windshield washer fluid, but still worrying: Is this stuff toxic? Am I pouring it into the right spot? Oh no, I spilled some, is this going to make my car explode later?
"You should work with seniors, you're just so patient and caring and good at explaining things simply"

Friends, it was the fawning trauma response the entire time.
That's exactly what prompted it for me. I couldn't remember the last time I replaced it and two solid weeks of neck pain was killing me. I opted for a $140 replacement though 😅
Everything is garbage, but new pillows help. Upgraded my sleep scores from "non-restorative" to "poor quality," which is...progress?
It's worse when they only put out one album and that album is 10-20 years old. The point at which the bandwagon is so far gone the only evidence is fossilized wheel marks...
Is there a word for that feeling? There should be a word for that.
I'm in the last half of the last book in a 9 book long series that I've been plinking away at since like 2021. I don't know that I'm ready for that end-of-a-story joy/grief/listlessness melange of weird feelings.
Can I just tell you that Methuselah was extremely my favorite part of my visit last week and also that I was absolutely gutted by the lack of Methuselah merch? Claude is lovely, but LOOK. AT. HER 😍
Can we offer you a motivational Methuselah poster for these trying times? 🙇
Hearing the anthem on Independence Day when I'm possibly the least proud I've ever been to be American hits different.
Every so often I get a wild hair and decide to pretend I'm declaring email and tab bankrupcy, spend an hour deleting things without actually completing said bankruptcy, and then carry on like I don't still have numbers of both things that would make other people weep.
My husband is watching a sports thing and one of the announcers is a "Des" and the other announcer keeps going "It's not looking good, Des" or "What do you think, Des?" and it's killing me
