I've said this before. The jury system is basically the only check and balance that's worked as it was supposed to, and I fully believe the reason is that it's in the hands of ordinary people.

For example, I'm a (very) white man who does not feel personally attacked by messages against hate and racism, because I'm not a hateful racist.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.
