The cool thing about my city being just large enough to do cool things is we always have a Christmas parade & city tree lighting ceremony.
What is not always cool is that my house is on the city block where they stage the floats and judge the bands. So my block is basically on lock down for today.

Gamers have such incredibly unreasonable demands of indies it's sort of a wonder anything gets made at all.
I could never fault an indie dev for just wanting to withdraw entirely from public from what are deeply wild, unfair or aggressive demands on their passion projects from 'gamers'.
