A striking thing about articles I’ve read claiming to “study the effects” of generative AI on student writing skills and consumption of information is that (1) they nearly always find the effects are negative and (2) most “conclusions” are still written assuming that we must use AI, for some reason.

yeah exactly, once she sets her mind on something it's hard to control her otherwise. I babysat her for a week and she's very very sweet once she knows you, but the breed itself is known for being stubborn as fuck and suspicious of people/animals they don't know

she's just a very large, very stubborn, very strong dog. I wouldn't recommend a shock collar for most dogs!! but sometimes, as a deterrent and emergency measure, it's not the worst thing

oh they use a muzzle at the park for sure! she's managed to get out of it before though, so the shock collar is absolutely last effort emergency shit. she's weird, sometimes she loves other dogs! but then one can get on her nerves and her patience breaks

you can definitely argue that a great pyrenees is a farm dog that shouldn't be put in scenarios where they could become aggressive, sure! but the fact remains, they own the dog, they love the dog, she just happens to be huge and a bit neurotic!

obviously shock collar use should be very fucking limited, as most people's dogs aren't the size of an adult human being! and it should never be used to train or simply punish a dog! that's fuckin cruel!! but if a 140lb dog is about to literally tear apart a mouthy chihuahua, one shock is fine guys

dog is ~140lbs, a great pyrenees who is well trained but still reactive to some other dogs and some strangers. she's a huge dog that could kill a smaller dog or excited child in seconds! the shock function is for emergencies only. the worst function they use is the beeping function that annoys her

unpopular opinion: while I'm convinced hasan wasn't using a shock collar (idgaf about hasan piker tbf, I barely know who he is), I know someone who does use one and it's fine. it's used as a deterrent, they've literally only used the shock function once in several years and it was a violent scenario
