This is the thing to hang onto - I’m glad people are appalled by Farage’s Nazi sympathies now, but the fact is, he was able to present TV programmes and constantly appear as a sofa guest for decades, booked by people who knew it all. We must reckon with that.
Evidence of Farage’s unabashed youthful racism has been in the public domain since at least 2013, yet somehow he has been allowed to remain part of the British political conversation. The fact he wasn’t driven back under a rock years ago has emboldened racists across the country to spread hatred.

These threatened closures are only ever contextualised by the numbers of students. Each university employs 1000s of academics, support staff, librarians, cooks, cleaners etc. They're also economically part of cities & regions. A failed university would be an economic disaster for tens of 1000s.
Chief exec of OfS 'said the OfS believes there are 24 institutions at risk of exiting the market in the next 12 months, seven of which are large providers with more than 3,000 students. There are another 25 or so institutions of various sizes at risk over a two- to three-year period, she added.'

Under the current University funding model international students are one of the few aspects of HE that actually makes money (most home tuition and research is loss making- yes it's more complicated than that). It's simply false to pretend international students take places from home students. 1/2

He explores the moral decay and un-seriousness of today's elites, drawing historical parallels to past eras of corruption that preceded transformative movements.

Israel has not ended its genocide—it must be stopped from continuing to kill Palestinians with impunity.

Watching Eva Longoria's Searching for Spain, and getting a bit emotional about food history, migration & culture. It would be lovely if migration in the present day could be presented so positively (and it doesn't take hundreds of years to acknowledge our national cultures are also mongrel)

Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.

Because googling and reading about something entails sifting through hits, reading and assessing them - in other words, actually doing a bit of thinking!
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.
