My father-in-law is just a few days from passing. The toughest man I've ever met, he survived being blown up in a mine and multiple cancers. It took a literal mountain of medical conditions in swift succession to finally bring this titan down. Swift journey's my friend. You will be missed.

Imagine doing this for a franchise when we need to clean up continuity - having a scholar from the future review the footage, critique the portrayal and lament about how they “got it all wrong”
Standard sword and sorcery fantasy film periodically interrupted by cutaways to an in-universe historian from a notional period hundreds of years after the depicted events explaining the film's various historical inaccuracies.

I so want this movie to be made

I am going to say something controversial, but if we get a M5, I really want it to be a reboot.

Specifically I’d like it to mesh with V5 and W5. If that means altering the concepts of Paradox and Consensus so be it.

I’ll second Way of Kolinhar - such a great expansion even if it’s non-canon

Ascensions Right Hand and Book of Worlds for MtA

Umbra the Velvet Shadow and Book of the Weaver for WtA.
What are your favourite #ttrpg splatbooks of all time?

Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand is the basis for my current V:tM campaign.

The Void Engineers splatbook for Mage: the Ascension.

Way of Kolinahr: The Vulcans for Last Unicorn's Star Trek: TNG game.
What are your favourite #ttrpg splatbooks of all time?

I'll go first, as I have splatbooks on the mind. Not my first loves, or even what I loved about most in Vampire, but Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand and Time of Thin Blood. Both were big swings at a times where WW could have played safe.

Let's See:

Young Justice
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
Star Trek: Enterprise (it needed to finish a 7 year run)
Babylon 5: Crusade (it never got a chance to course-correct)
Name your fav show that was cancelled too soon

Prior to V5, we all knew that each WoD game was set in a parallel dimension that had similarities to each other.

But I am convinced that the same goes for each edition of Mage the Ascension.

One of the things I really was disappointed was stripping the Tribes of their historical roots in Werewolf the Apocalypse 5e.

Oh W20 had issues, but V20 had them too - while there was an effort to correct them in V5, in W5 they were just excised.

The Tribes now feel very sterile to me.

Maybe as a director, but please keep him away from scripts…or at least tell him he has to actually have a cool mystery before spending all that time crafting a “mystery box” story around it.
Rewatched STAR TREK ‘09. We gotta get JJ out of director jail, man.

Gentle Reminder that you can enjoy a game without playing its older versions.

I love playing Monster of the Week even though I never played Monster of the Day or Monster of the Hour.

For me: Maybe a whole bunch of English-retools of shows like Battle of the Planets and Robotech.

Pure Anime? Either Silent Moebius or Ghost in the Shell.

@pugsteady.com I have a Pugmire question - I get that it’s hinted that Mancers (like the other “magic” callings like Artisan and Shepherd) get their abilities from nanites.

But where do Ministers get their mojo from? Any hints in the text have gone over my head…

Though Star Frontiers was the first game I played, the first one I bought was the original (not revised) version of Heroes Unlimited…

And it’s a shame that Paradox no longer allowed it to continue…

I watched it again recently and yeah, I still like it. I mean, there are things I wouldn’t have done, sure, but every SW movie is like that for me. TLJ tried to do something different with the tropes of the Skywalker Saga and I’ll always respect that.
A film I still love. Saw it twice in theaters, both times in packed audiences that were fully hooting and hollering; came out both times buzzing, spent weeks talking with friends near and online about how much we'd enjoyed it and how excited we were. Genuinely feels impossible to imagine now

Okay I might get some grief but still like TLJ. Oh, it’s a flawed movie but of all the Sequels, it was the one that tied to do something different with the tropes of the Skywalker Saga, and for that alone it earns my respect.

I guess I was too busy playing all these awesome new games over the years to notice any barriers…
I cannot express how pathetic you have to be to believe this happened in the TTRPG hobby in the last decade

I was one of them. Stuck in a small town, my ability to play RPGs was inconsistent. I bought A LOT of White Wolf in the 90’s specifically to read, because the World of Darkness fascinating to my then-sheltered mind.
I wonder sometimes about the market segment of game READERS: folks who sometimes buy entire TTRPG game lines just to read the books, but who have never had the opportunity (or sometimes even the desire) to play them.
Some of this is also because, in a big part of the era, more than half of the people -buying- weren’t -playing- but were instead reading these almost like periodicals, so there was a focus on advancing the narrative episodically.
