“Respect for the truth comes close to being the basis for all morality — something cannot emerge from nothing.” Frank Herbert, Dune.
White people, however, continue to disappoint.
Trump gained support in some key demographics in 2024. One year into his term, most of those demos support him even less than they did in 2020.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Jan 6 rioters physically attacked police officers and were lionized and pardoned for it so who actually thinks MAGA cares about this?

Democrats are the ones who have legislation to divert ICE funds to the overwhelmed local police departments.

Kinda like how Democrats funded law enforcement programs with the ARPA as Republicans voted against it.

Honestly, this is probably the best thing that can happen.

Cops need to grasp the very obvious fact that Republicans hate them too, and their sycophancy won’t save them either.

As if 9/11 first responders legislation, Jan 6 pardons, and open carry weren’t enough… maybe this will do it.

What's remarkable is not just that Trump is so loathsome and narcissistic that he doesn't care when an innocent woman is killed in a protest unless and until he finds out that her dad was a fan of his ... it's that he's so disregulated he *can't help but say so out loud*.
Trump: "ICE is gonna be too rough with somebody. They're gonna make a mistake sometimes. I felt horribly when I was told the young woman had the tragedy. But when I learned her father is - I hope he still is, but I don't know - was a tremendous Trump fan. It's terrible. It's so sad. It just happens"

it seems too obvious to even keep pointing it out but if you have ever had experience with an elder relative sliding into dementia you are familiar with the ways they repeat the same nonsensical anecdotes
Trump: "They didn't allow the water to come down from the Pacific Northwest. They routed the water into the Pacific Ocean. So we had no water there. No, he had -- I would say open up the water. Open it up to the governor, the mayor. They wouldn't do it. They wanted to protect a tiny little fish."

The president encounters a binder clip for the first time, then talks about it for a while.

Remember when Joe Biden had a raspy voice and every major news organization created a 10-person Biden Is Old investigative team?
Trump: "Whoo. I'm glad my finger wasn't in that sucker. That could've dome some damage but you know what? I wouldn't have shown the pain. I would've gone back. Boy did you hear that? That was nasty. But I would not have shown the pain. I would've acted like nothing happens as my finger fell off."

I will never get over the fact that the Republican Party chose as its standard-bearer, and this country elected as its President, quite possibly the worst human being on the planet.

This is a preliminary injunction (not a Temporary Restraining Order) — it is very, very thorough and to my mind written to withstand appellate review.

Huge win here by @aclu.org. Similar to a court order we and our partners obtained recently in Chicago in a similar case.

It's important not just because of the order itself, but because it creates a forum for accountability for federal officers who violate it who can now be held in contempt.

It's truly stunning (though unsurprising) how little attention national media give Gov. Walz's speeches and news conferences. He's out there declaring his state under siege, and it's not in headlines outside of MN. They'll cover Trump's lies about him endlessly-- but not his actions.
