It's also very clear from Imajica and other books that he is grappling a lot with themes of gender in general, to a point where I want to see if there's been more in-depth interviews with him about it. If not, that'd be a shame.

I think Barker gets a lot of benefit of the doubt due to being a member of the community himself and his background shows he's got no hangups with sex work either.
But certainly his enthusiastic approach to getting better doesn't hurt.

Relistened to Barker's 'Jacqueline Ess' and 'Skins of the Fathers' w/ Ependa since she'd never heard them, and I was expecting to be more impressed with the latter on reread but Ess turned out to be the standout.
Skins was interesting tho because there were baby quirks in Barker's writing for it.

The hard and fast rules are: can only comfortably shift forms once a week, and MUST shift at least once a month or their body will do it for them.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea
