The top two US CQWW CW rookies are both busy POTA ops. The pipeline of Parks On The Air CW into contesting is one of the few ways new blood is getting into radiosport.

This is my winter POTA smile. Note the California Winter Survival Suit is nearly fully deployed. The hood went up soon after.

California QSO party results were announced but my score is missing!
Turns out the checking algorithm randomly deleted only my log, a first for them. They only noticed when I emailed.
The incorrect results remain up while they look into issuing a correction, believe I won the new contester prize.

First year competing in the CQWW CW contest…I have a peashooter home station on a suburban lot so feeling good about this score. 200k was my goal.
This is my last year as a “rookie” under the rules which puts in a less competitive group.

I got out pretty well today. Over 110 CW QSOs between both parks. Again 10m was open coast to coast but hardly anyone on it.
Feeling more comfortable running at 25 WPM and adding a little banter (GUD CU AGN. TNX FER 10M, 599 FB IN CA, etc).

Played radio on the “beach” looking out on South SF today with my dude K6KM. It was slow going but there was some DX to Alaska, Japan and Dominican Republic in there on 30W CW

Solar conditions are what they are, radio blackouts etc…but there’s usually a beginner looking to make a contact out there somewhere.
