I wish publishers would focus on well-written books that reward the reader's intellect, instead of formulaic crap written at a fourth-grade reading level. Unfortunately, pandering to the lowest common denominator with "See Dick and Jane solve murder" makes the most money.

got the degree i assumed i should get (english), never challenged myself, did some cool work in publishing for ~9 years, started to burn out, moved, decided on a whim to volunteer at a wildlife rehab, turns out animals are lifechanging, now i'm back in school working at an animal shelter 🐕❤️
