Gold prices hit fresh records on rising worries about geopolitics, tariff threats and a possible US government shutdown. Gold climbed above $5,100 an ounce Tuesday before retreating a bit. Gold was just over $2,000 an ounce only two years ago. u.afp.com/SBDK

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

Outrageous style. Good on you, Greenlanders.
The only good thing about all this is that it has brought to my attention that the Greenland flag frickin’ rules. #Erfalasorput

ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
Vehicles that are abandoned due to an ICE detention and towed to the City's impound lot will be released to their owners or a representative at no cost.

Magic
last night : seeing the northern lights when they were this strong and visible (you could see all the shimmering and dancing with the naked eye, it was just a bit less colour saturated) was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. utterly humbling and astonishing

Perfidy sounds like it may as well be a card game played with jokers that was invented in the 1830s.

I forgot that I had not yet posted my Northern light photos from last night. I lucked out and had another fantastic viewing. I didn't have a fancy camera this time and it was so cold I hated taking my mitten off to take a picture, but I got a few.

Many of you have become drama-addicted doomers, and you seem to think it's important for the rest of us to join you.

Yes, things are bad. But change is within our power. Grow up. Act like sober, responsible adults in a democracy instead of cynical, all-is-lost teenagers.

Now get off my lawn.

Despite being remote and thinly populated, somehow Maine remains two degrees of separation from… whatever, whoever. A heavily forested, frosty wormhole-to-topic.
If you grew up in Maine you've seen our news outlets do this time and time again. There's an obsession with this state, a focus on Maine exceptionalism, and finding ways to connect Maine to every big story. This? This is the wildest I've seen.

Almost 20 years ago, I warned we were heading toward a world where states invade each other at will, and that America had an obligation to restore the higher bar for going to war. Not gonna say I told ya so, but...well, okay, I will.

There's a reason I chose these quotes to open the book.

Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.
