Fulham fan. Grammar fan. Fond of ethical behavior. Ally. ADHD before it was cool. Horses and dogs, despite Oscar, the profile cat. Working toward Lawful Good. Still working on it.
A grim day for Michiganders. The body who should have seen that Detroit Edison (DTE) cannot produce the energy for a data center without laying a terrible financial burden on taxpayers, gleefully approved the proposal based on obviously spurious grounds. Regulators? 🤑 Citizens? 🍳

Plotting the rise of corporate money returning to politics in a big way, and the net effect that unrestricted lobbying has had on our nation.

Rob Reiner, arriving at the Pearly Gates: St. Peter, with elaborate, comic bow,

"AS YOU WISH."

This could hardly be more accurate. 🙁

"He puts in plenty of tackles himself," is not an acceptable argument to let bad behavior by Forest slide 🫩

Seriously, I want new commentators. Ugh.

The Duchess steers her ship with grace.
First have your coffee time, then do your stretching, fight evil until lunch, then you can have a little nap; then you'll bring joy to the world, then cocktails.

Somebody tripped the Turtle!
I believe the world may have shaken on its foundations. Indiana's legislature just voted *against* redistricting to give their (otherwise) dear leader's party an even more gerrymandered advantage.
My, my, my.

Did anyone else catch @kairyssdal.bsky.social's Marketplace report last night with the guys who blithely chuckled as they described how same/similar financial instruments that destroyed US lives by creating the housing crisis are now being used to finance data centers? Fraud pays for data predation.

Who should be a US citizen? People who want to come here and live a good life. Really, that takes in nearly all immigrants. Are there exploitative jerks who want to come here and wreak havoc? Well, yes, somehow Murdoch and Musk slipped through. So that system needs work. But most are solid humans.

For those who enjoy analogies: Building data centers is equivalent to setting up a fence-free farm for leopards who eat people, faces and all. Then paying for power and water, and, instead of using them, sending the leopard breeders all of our power and water so the predators can eat us faster.

On the 1-year anniversary of Syria ousting Assad, Americans need to look very carefully at Syria. It is never enough to end an illegitimate regime. Life never "returns to normal." We must decide what EXACTLY we want afterward--in great detail--and amass support. Chaos will otherwise ensue. 🧵

Looking at the news today and seeing that a SEVENTH person is cured of HIV (full remission). This is unquestionably the best news I have seen in weeks.

No data centers. No algorithm-driven output in our private lives.
If AI eliminates millions of jobs, how will people survive?

Will AI destroy democracy with a massive invasion of our privacy?

Could a superintelligent AI replace humans in controlling the planet?

We must act NOW. AI must benefit all of us, not just billionaire investors.
AI poses unprecedented threats. Congress must act now | Bernie Sanders
Despite the speed at which it is progressing, AI is getting far too little discussion in Congress, the media and within the general population. That has got to change

When they say the chump's physical was 'perfectly normal,' it is important to complete the sentence: 'for an elderly man with advanced cardiovascular disease and progressive dementia.'

For a regime that ignores the Constitution, ignoring rules of legal engagement is small beer.
Department of Defense Law of War Manual, Sec. 18.3.2.1 states the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders.

What’s its key example? Wait for it . . . It’s "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

I hope Sarah Beckstrom's family tells Trump where to stuff his invitation to what's left of the white house.

I don't care if Kimi Antonelli got out of his car, whipped out the airport traffic-direction light wands, and bowed as Norris drove by: Death threats are unacceptable. Threats of harm are unacceptable. Threats of any kind are unacceptable.

End of story.

Don't Give up the Ship.

This regime can lie, abuse power, and create enmity around the world. But it will never be legitimized so long as Americans resist.
