No data centers. No algorithm-driven output in our private lives.
If AI eliminates millions of jobs, how will people survive?

Will AI destroy democracy with a massive invasion of our privacy?

Could a superintelligent AI replace humans in controlling the planet?

We must act NOW. AI must benefit all of us, not just billionaire investors.
AI poses unprecedented threats. Congress must act now | Bernie Sanders
Despite the speed at which it is progressing, AI is getting far too little discussion in Congress, the media and within the general population. That has got to change

When they say the chump's physical was 'perfectly normal,' it is important to complete the sentence: 'for an elderly man with advanced cardiovascular disease and progressive dementia.'

For a regime that ignores the Constitution, ignoring rules of legal engagement is small beer.
Department of Defense Law of War Manual, Sec. 18.3.2.1 states the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders.

What’s its key example? Wait for it . . . It’s "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

I hope Sarah Beckstrom's family tells Trump where to stuff his invitation to what's left of the white house.

I don't care if Kimi Antonelli got out of his car, whipped out the airport traffic-direction light wands, and bowed as Norris drove by: Death threats are unacceptable. Threats of harm are unacceptable. Threats of any kind are unacceptable.

End of story.

Home Depot wanted holiday cheer, got a whole-ass choir calling out their partnership with ICE instead…

Wow. I did not see that coming.

Don't Give up the Ship.

This regime can lie, abuse power, and create enmity around the world. But it will never be legitimized so long as Americans resist.

Time to consider ordinances to require this for all new development.
The regime is doing all it can to kill renewable energy.
It is deeply in the pocket of the fossil fuel industry.
To all our detriment.

"Let's go over this one more time."
"I know what-"
"ONE MORE TIME."
"Fine."
"What is it you're looking for?"
"A garbage bag."
"In which room?"
"The kitchen."
"What do you do when you find it?"
"Bring it to you here."
"I'm counting on you, Tim."

BREAKING: The U.S. Coast Guard just announced they won’t classify swastikas and nooses as hate symbols anymore they’re calling them ‘potentially divisive.’ Potentially divisive? Listen, a noose isn’t a conversation starter. A swastika isn’t a debate topic. They are dangerous hate symbols. Full stop

In 2011, Terry Jones (yes, the M. Pythoneer) wrote an article for The Guardian about the 14th century mercenary companies created by Edward III. They behaved similarly to Sudan's RSF. The US, watching the rise of ICE as a similar force should take a moment to review a little history and heed it well

We are constantly fed the notion that algorithm-driven input ("AI"), algorithm-driven automobiles, and data centers are "inevitable," that we "just have to get used to it." No. We do not. In fact, we must not resign ourselves to be the unwilling victims of predatory tech. Fight back for each other.

No reason to discourage Marjorie Taylor Greene from making trouble for her own side.

As Gramps would say, "When one of them changes sides, invite them to sit and warm themselves around the fire. Feed them, but don't trust them. Their 'new values' may just be old self-interest."

I just drove past a house with a Kirk memorial yard sign, and it dawned on me:
If your nation is hate, then Charlie Kiek was a patriot.

With all of the beautiful photos of the Northern lights, I can't help but recall this delightful animated video of the Finnish myth of the Fox Fire.

Fox Fires - Animated Short Film
To support my channel and access exclusive content and tutorials, visit https://www.patreon.com/Lynxspots Graduation film from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Scotland. Note from the director: I pitched this idea in February 2018 and had the privilege of working with a number of my classmates and 3rd-year assistants. They each brought so much talent and enthusiasm to telling this story and I couldn't have been more fortunate to have them as my team. Please stay for the credits and look them up! Fox Fires is inspired by the Finnish folk tale of the aurora borealis. The film blends 2D and 3D animation together. Thank you so much to my composer, Denny Schneidemesser, for all of his help in bringing the film together and for scoring the work so beautifully. I've admired Denny's work since I first watched animated shorts on YouTube and decided to pursue animation myself, having him on board was a dream come true. A little, fun "history of practical economics" reminder:

Henry Ford* paid his workers enough to afford to buy his cars. That was his sales strategy. It built southeastern MI into a prosperous place. It lasted until labor were convinced to stop supporting each other.

*A pig in many other ways.

Could the media use better headlines than "Mexico President Groped in Public"? Are you all permanently 14-year-old boys? She was "Assaulted in Public." Leave the salacious bull to the tabloids, and report her response to the crime, not the fact that you get your jollies from crimes against women.

As we watch the Turkish election cycle and see rivals to autocratic power go to jail, I think we had better start planning for how we intend to keep our own candidates safe and out of prison on some Trumped-up charges. (Fascinating, how even his name is a byword for fraudulent.)
