What this is is a sort of insecurity that reviewers or readers might go “well this is inaccurate, this isn’t how it actually happened in the myths!” and get mad about it. So you preemptively defend yourself by going “this isn’t your *daddy’s* greek mythology”
I need 'feminist' retellings to stop doing that specific thing where the narrator says stuff like 'in the world of men they say [x y z misogynistic things] about me but actually [girlboss things]', unless the twist is really good and fresh like 'actually King Arthur was always a woman' or some shit.
