I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

It's wildflower season!
I think the common name for this flower is "Billy button" but I forgot the scientific name (sorry) Pretty pink and white flowers of Hypocalymma angustifolium A close up of Drosera (sundew) A close up of donkey orchids (Diuris sp.). These flowers always look so happy

I hope Aus won't be blocked!

"...smaller providers may choose to opt out of Australia entirely. Bluesky blocked Mississippi users after a similar age assurance law passed in the state, citing costs in developing age verification systems and lack of resources."

www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
Not just under-16s: all Australian social media users will need to prove their age – and it could be complicated
The age assurance technology trial found errors are inevitable – meaning users might have to provide other ID, and appeal against wrongful bans

Not unclear, I'm just impressed with how crisp they are. Cute crabs and worms too. The whole community would be a fun sci-fi book

A beautiful example of Inostemma, the tiny unicorn of the garden! The long horn on the female metasoma houses its unique ovipositor system. Males don't have horns.

Het is de moeite waard je camera te richten op een 1,5 mm bewegend vlekje op boerenwormkruid. Na vergroting blijkt dat een prachtig wespje (Platygastridae) met een structuur over het borststuk waarin ze de legboor bewaart. #ElkeDagEenInsect (Sorry @parasitoidrex.bsky.social failed to collect it!)

Velvet worm repeat pattern! Putting more invertebrate linocuts into surface design! 🧪🐡

These adorable, caterpillar-like blue velvet worm from New Zealand (Aotearoa). Velvet worms (phylum: Onychophora) are named for their velvet-like texture and somewhat wormlike appearance. They are elongated, 🧵
A repeat pattern made with my linocut blue S-shaped velvet worm, resembling a many-legged caterpillar with two antennas and a pattern of spots. Along its length there’s a central darker blue stripe. The image is repeated and reflected to make mesh of nearly interlocking S-shaped velvet worms against a deep raspberry purple background.
