Joyeux anniversaire to French composer Éliane Radigue (b.1932) who turns an incredible 94 years of age today! Her work is proof that subtlety can be seismic, and that the smallest shift can change everything. Long live sustained tones, deep attention and Éliane Radigue!

Zhao Yu directional debut Illuminant Object is really fun. Always good to see a maniland take on a "found footage" genere. Some Shira here, some true crime a bit of X-Files and probably some general weirdness out of China that escapes me. It falls apart a bit in the final act, nevertheless worth it.

Desperately praying for a US distributor to pick up Koji Shiraishi's KINKI before it gets buried in the WB deal - easily one of my new favorite horror movies of the last few years, and possibly the closest Shiraishi's ever come to making a true-blue NOROI successor.

Walmart nostalgia is Blockbuster nostalgia, to me. The things you liked about it were pale imitations of concepts they stole from the places they ran out of business. You don't like Walmart, you like the shadows of the things they destroyed

Insane amount of missed opportunity with all this fake unbranded clothing. They should have plaster him in Marvel (or whatever company he was at the helm) logos. Make the puppet work extra! Make him look like a fucking digital billboard, that sweater should look like a NASCAR driver's jacket.
