I've uploaded a free preprint for a forthcoming article, Mad Pride in Revolutionary England: The Ranters as Mad Actvism. It will be published in History Workshop Journal next year. I'm proud of this and see it as the start of a new, much bigger project.

Marxist theories of fascism see fascism less as a tradition and more as a reoccurring symptom of capitalist decay, like the periodic flaring up of a dormant virus. This helps us understand why many contemporary fascism supporters, stripped of historical memory, don't see themselves as fascists.

Sorry to post an Unherd article but surely emboldened by how trans rights have been sucessfully undermined - and her support from many UK philosophy colleagues - Kathleen Stock is now starting to question abortion rights. It is important to recognise the trajectory here.

I am by no means a prominent public intellectual, but my inbox is increasingly filled with messages from people who have been convinced by sycophantic chatbots that they have discovered revolutionary theories that entirely upend our scientific understanding of the universe.

This piece was greenlit and then killed by a British newspaper, so I’ve decided to publish myself instead.

Labour minisers are rightly demanding Farage answer for his teenage racist and antisemitic harassment. But this does seem odd given that teenage Nigel Farage would clearly have been ecstatic with Labour's rhetoric and policy on immigration today.

Ear defenders are inexpensive and dont inconvenience anyone. The only reason to go after people using them like this is if you are in principle against inclusion and desegregation. Reform is a fascist party and disabled people are one of fheir key targets.

Imagine if Starmer was actually still a trot, sent specifically to destoy the labour party, so that a new left party can take its place, free of the labour bureaucracy. I don't think this is the case, but if it was true, he would be doing a great job.

At this point i basically think a fair bit (not all) of the public spats and press leaks around the top of Your Party are functioning as a proxy for their differing commitments, especially on trans rights.

“If Labour don’t do this, we’ll get a Reform government”

Trans people, disabled people, migrants, people of colour and people seeking asylum already have a Reform government.

You just want to feel superior to those who like the idea of Nigel Farage as PM.

Losing Alice feels like the ground shifting beneath us—I'm devastated—but to have known & shared even part of this life with her was an honor. She was one of the most fearless, generous & visionary disability activists. It’s impossible to measure how much she shifted the world—I feel it everywhere.

It was great that there were so many disability talks and panels at Historical Materialism. It feels like momentum is building for a convergence between revolutionary theory/praxis and disability theory/praxis. Something which is more necessary now than ever.
