Similar thing happened to me when I was a young teenager. Warts, when ripped out, bleed a lot.
Sometimes they sing about the same thing from different standpoints. Contrast the wistful "Rollercoaster" by Bleachers with the heartbreak of "Carefree Highway" by Gordon Lightfoot.
One of my favorite things about music is when two musicians/groups from wildly different genres tell the same story with their unique styles. Think "Give It Away" by George Strait and "Eucalyptus" by The National.
Just completely bonkers. It also completely takes the wind out of his supporters' argument that "he doesn't even take a salary!"
Breaking News: President Trump wants $230 million from the Justice Department for investigating him, people familiar with the matter say. Any settlement might ultimately be approved by senior department officials who defended him or those in his orbit. nyti.ms/4hmIi5X
It speaks to the fragility of a seemingly resilient mental state, so I suppose it is humbling in a way. Still, I would rather be legitimately resilient.
Shit, I feel that. I like to think I'm doing alright, and then one more thing goes wrong and it sends me spiraling. A week ago I thought "life is pretty good," then I injured my back and set back my recovery from a medical procedure by lifting a surprisingly heavy trash bag. Back to spiraling.
I know several MAGA adherents in my age range (mid-30s) who are intelligent, educated professionals. They simply hold the view that people of certain sexual orientations and ethnic backgrounds are somehow lesser and thus undeserving of empathy.
I know a number of well-educated MAGAs. I too wish folks on the left would quit treating this as a lack of education.
What they lack isn't education, or even intelligence.
What they lack is empathy.

Nice, I didn't know you were from Bangor! I've never been, but from what I've read, it's a place I wouldn't mind living one day.

"Woah! Guess so."
Yeah, uh, no. It takes real intention and effort to be a Nazi enthusiast, it's not something that one just falls into. The reflexive response for most people is still be be horrified by Nazis, and for good reason.
I'm so grateful that my 4-year-old son is now willing to sit and eat a meal at home or a restaurant, as long as he can talk to everyone at the table. My 1.5-year-old daughter, on the other hand, will never sit anywhere for more than one minute unless she is on the couch watching Ms. Rachel.
I keep saying, we are steadily outsourcing our humanity.
To bolster recruitment, the Trump administration plans to further ease the fitness standards. The new requirement will be to finish a meal without sweating.
Gold-plated everything, door handles that fall off, bathrooms that smell like piss no matter how often they are cleaned.
Only if they do the inverse with the guys farting.
Absolutely not. I'm not lifting a finger to help end the male loneliness epidemic.
"Jesus 'bout to DROP SOME BOMBS!"
"Live free or die hard. With a vengeance."
Most opponents of this approach are like "I want to preserve my personal liberty to operate an automobile while simultaneously drinking a beer and smoking a joint."
After reading your article, I'm trying to imagine the same nightmare scenario occurring with our actual government leaders in charge. It would probably be an 18-minute version of "Don't Look Up."
3. I do not intend to outsource my humanity.
