Lyme, ME/CFS, endometriosis, long COVID, coeliac disease, adenomyosis, fibromyalgia & all the other conditions where there's actually nothing wrong with us, but we just enjoy pretending to be ill. For fuck's sake. It's like we've regressed to the 1960s when my mum was accused of being a malingerer.

Thin-legged wolf #spider - Pardosa sp.

A thin-legged wolf spider (Pardosa sp.) shot in a sort of profile facing the right of frame. They have a big tan abdomen and their little cephalothorax has long spindly legs attached to it. The spider is a variety of tan and brown markings in cryptic camouflage patterns

A pseudoscorpion for #arachtober. A Compost Chernes [pselaphochernes scorpioides] from the garden compost heap.
#wildlifefrommywindow #invertebrates #ukwildlife #gardenwildlife #macro
A plan view of a eight legged invertebrate that has two long arms reaching out from its head with crab like claws on the end. The body looks like one large reddy brown oval, with the main portion bisected by a lighter line, with each side split into 10 regular sections. The body, arms, and legs, are covered in tiny short hairs, with occaisional longer ones which act as sensory organs.

Loving the burst of pseudoscorpion posts! Gave this grabby guy some bristles and a bit more attitude 😈 (remember in reality they’re like sesame seeds with attitude) #arachtober

🌱 #roseWednesday One of the roses in the persica trial at Wisley. This one is called Rosa Orienta Djamila and is a real stand out beauty.
It’s a London day for me. Hope the trains behave better than last Friday.
A beautiful dark pink rose with an even darker centre.

There's a lovely large flock of Jackdaws and Rooks in the village and every evening they have a fly round before they decide where to roost for the night 🖤
If I'm awake I sometimes see them do the same thing early in the morning just before dawn 🖤
I do love the corvids 😊

If you want to reduce plastic use, avoid yellow kitchen sponges like these. They're made of plastic, can't be recycled, don't break down in landfill – and release microplastics into the sea. Eco-friendly, compostable alternatives are available – see: littlegreenspace.org.uk/reviews/seep...

Finally found her a nice branch 🌿

My luck was back this PM. Managed to find 2, with the same characteristics. Side light and flash showed up the hairs. I think you're right (unsurprisingly!), clubbed setae, and trichobothria on the abdomen and 4th tarsus, so pselaphochernes scorpioides. Do you concur? I have other 📷 if needed.
A view from above of a tiny arachnid. It has long arms at the front ending in crab like claws. The abdomen is segmented with the red-brown plates separated by lighter lines. The lighting is set to highlight the tiny hairs that cover its body, which allow it to sense what is happening around it.

No joy yesterday finding any more. It's a fair bit wetter, and colder, but despite checking all layers in the compost heap I couldn't find any. Will have another 👀 this PM. 🤞The FSC guide is here, I hadn't realised the hairs were such an important distinguishing feature! Will bear that in mind.

My word, the news is unrelentedly shit at the moment... so I'm switching to my Nature list only on BSky for a bit!

This female Ivy #bee was going her thing last weekend. The ivy was alive with bees, flies, and wasps, which was delightful. 😊 #solitarybees #wildlifefrommywindow #insects #inverts
A profile shot of a fluffy bee. She has yellow and black stripes on her abdomen, a fluffy orange downy thorax, and a fluffy head, apart from her dark eyes and antennae. Her hind leg is covered in pollen collected from the Ivy flowers she's resting on. The ivy flowers are like tiny globes with a stalk out the top with the pollen held on the end.

A rice-grain-sized male jumping spider, I think Habronattus klauseri (Arizona). I have another shot that's more face-on, but I like this image because you can see the soft hair on the face under the eyes. I also like the low contrast background and his side-eye, about-to-jump pose. 🐙🌿 #Arachtober
A macro photo looking into the face of a jumping spider, with a background of mostly straw-colored vegetation and pale rock. The spider has green eyes set in a mask-like band of orange-brown hairs, with a band of short white hairs below the eyes. The legs have a dark background color with many cream-colored hairs, and the inside of the legs show olive-green and muted orange.

The FSC guide hasn't turned up yet, but from what I've found in resources online I'm thinking it's a Lamprochernes nodosus, a Knotty Shiny Claw. What do you think? I'll be going for another look on Saturday.

Another hike on the Welsh coastline. Never been distracted by critters and landscapes so much 🌿
A wide coastal view of Three Cliffs Bay in Wales, showing dramatic rocky formations rising from the sea. In the foreground, grassy hills roll down toward the edge of the cliffs, with small winding footpaths cutting through the green slopes. Several tiny silhouettes of people stand on the ridge, giving scale to the sweeping landscape. The three pointed limestone cliffs jut out into the water, partially surrounded by foamy waves. The sea stretches out under a partly cloudy sky, with another headland visible in the hazy distance across the bay. The overall scene feels expansive and windswept, capturing the rugged beauty of the Welsh coastline.
