NEW: The ABC majority just voted to decimate the strong social housing requirements on developments in the Downtown Eastside / Oppenheimer District.

ABC ignored the feedback of 100s of residents & advocates who spoke over several days warning of displacement and land speculation. #vanpoli

If we get rid of cigarettes and guns, it means no more ashtrays or gun racks.
And this is a real concern for 12-year-olds in pottery & shop class as the holidays approach
This post from Canada reminded me of the rabid response that followed the public smoking ban in the US. The outcry from smokers who could no longer drench my lungs and clothes in their chosen brand of cigarette smoke was fierce, but It provides hope that we will find a solution to our gun problem.
I lived thru the end of public smoking. Early in my career I presented to city councils who were smoking, in front of audiences who were smoking.

Smoking in restaurants, airplanes, hospitals…

All of that seems insane now, but it was very controversial when we DID change it.

We CAN change things.

The cool thing about smartphones is that you can easily play Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy whenever you have to tiptoe around the house at night to do a task or pee or whatever

Every hour today, CBC radio has aired Bibi Netanyahu's response to the Sydney Massacre. Why are we looking to the genocidal leader of a far away ethnostate to comment on this? A guy who has averaged 6 December 14ths per day since 10/7/23.
The devaluing of certain human lives is astounding

Have they done a King of the Hill where Bobby reveals that big oil has been cynically trying to feminize and downplay the efficacy of heat pumps to a macho Arlen plumbing community, and Hank comes around at the end?

A neat thing about Rosemary Rocksalt bagels, owned by DOGE wannabe Ken Sim, is that not only can you avoid buying them, but you can also aggressively remind your friends and acquaintances to not buy them either

"The Hat Company:" bought one of those headlamp touques from Passages on @bcferries.bsky.social & the battery sack suddenly popped open & inflated like a balloon while charging. Next time on the ferry they said they both owned one, works fine. These exploding Temu-touques sit like 1" from the eyes

I'm glad he "level set" his misuse of "reactionary" while discussing our "core city." Its like listening to someone read a chain of predictive text input channel no problem at all that you are using the aforementioned vestibule and I will be a.....what a smug doofus
