This is what climate change and sea level rise looks like.

It's not some slow, gradual process. It's going to be sudden and catastrophic when it happens.

You know who are the people behind this? Israelis and Zionist groups such as Canary Mission and Betar. Because academics chose to stay silent during a 14 month long genocide, these groups are now emboldened enough to go after any and all perceived enemies of Israel.
SCOOP: The Trump admin appears to be going into a visa database to quietly change students' immigration status. It's coming entirely by surprise — setting students up to be detained without warning.

It's Mahmoud Khalil & Rumeysa Ozturk — on a wider scale.

This broke your heart, but your heart was not broken seeing the pictures of children shredded by American bombs during 14 months of a genocide?

I have ZERO sympathy for American academics who CHOSE to stay silent when it really mattered.
I received a heartbreaking email today: A paper in a special issue I’m editing is being retracted because one of its authors is afraid of losing their job and their legal status in the U.S. if they publish a scientific study on evolution. Yes, on evolution, nature's engine of diversity.

The reason Trump can destroy America's civil liberties with impunity, is because Americans chose to keep silent when horrific crimes were being committed by their country abroad. There is a direct straight line from the genocide in Palestine to the ICE abductions in the US.
ICE has abducted an Iranian mechanical engineering doctoral student at the University of Alabama.

Genocide has been normalised in the eyes of most Americans.
Not to be a wide-eyed naïf about such things but... am I right in thinking that they levelled an entire building to get to one guy and *that* is not controversial to anyone in the American media or political class, only that this information was recklessly shared in an unsecured chat?

I can imagine this having a lot of applications in everything from photonics to manufacturing. It's the sort of thing which becomes the lynchpin of major new tech frameworks in years to come.
Researchers have developed a birefringent metasurface that, when hit with a beam of light, selectively transmits two beams of opposite chirality. The transparent device consists of a quartz substrate topped with a layer of lithium niobate etched to create a lattice of nanocubes.

There's a straight line from the shredding of children by American bombs in Gaza to Trump and Musk's shredding of Americans' constitutional rights. But, as long as Americans are happy with the one they will have to accept the other too.
If Hamas had killed 7 Israelis inside of Israel this week, it would be one of the biggest stories in the world, & all over the US media.

But Israel killed 7 HUNDRED Palestinians this week, including almost 200 children, & yet there's little outrage from our politicians or media.

The "soul" of the university was given up long ago when they let NYPD in to arrest non violent students protesting the American-Israeli genocide in Gaza. The fact that this is still not obvious to so many Americans is symptomatic of where the country is today.
It would be better to give up all federal money than to give up the soul of the university like this.

Fascism is not "coming" to America. It's already there. And Americans paved the way for it by allowing Zionists to control every aspect of their public and political lives.
March 20, 2025 at 5:37 AM
If Americans had been more conscientious about standing up against Israel's crimes in Palestine, then maybe Trump would not have become President. The American public paved the way for him by choosing to celebrate the superbowl and oscars when children were being shredded by American bombs.
Le Monde reporting that a French scientist traveling to Houston to attend a conference was denied entry to US after a search of his phone & computer revealed messages critical of Trump's science cuts, "which [says CPB] conveyed hatred of Trump & could be qualified as terrorism". Oh the people you armed to the teeth and gave tanks to, and who hoisted a thin blue line flag to show pride for killing Black people are foot soldiers of fascism?

How shocking!
Wow. Judge Howell is worried that if she orders DOGE to leave the USIP building it could turn into an “armed standoff” over unwillingness to vacate, and points out law enforcement has shown willingness to help DOGE. Asks if we’ll need foreign mediators to come in.

If there is any decisive nail in the coffin of the assertion that Musk is a savant/genius, it should be this. Not having radar/lidar on a self-driving car for detecting obstacles is essentially telling the drivers to say "Hail Mary" and hope everything works out.
Sadly most engineers expected this to eventually be a problem when they ditched lidar/radar for Teslas. Cost isn’t everything, even Kia uses radar to assist with crash prevention.

This is emblematic of most of the tech bros. They assume because they didn’t come up with it, it’s terrible.
March 17, 2025 at 8:57 AM
You mean to tell me that they're building "self driving" cars which don't use ANY radar tech for sensing obstacles? Why would anybody buy a Tesla at this point for any reason other than if they're a Musk fanboy/girl ?
Someone made a Wiley E. Coyote style painted wall to see if Tesla’s autopilot would detect it and well…
