We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

They want him to be Hitler. That’s not an exaggeration or quip. That’s literally what they want, a complete evaporation of rights ceded to the state’s whims over who is a person.
The right wing mega-influencers in lockstep: the admin should “ignore the Supreme Court. Deport every illegal. Arrest anyone and everyone who tries to stop you.” Because every fash regime needs its fash cheering section.

what the right is offering young men is the subjugation of women in lieu of any material gains for men. that, like many components of fascism, feels very immediately rewarding to some people. it’s not something you can easily replicate on the left.
