Look, art shouldn’t be a competition and the Academy is not the final arbiter of what is and is not good but it’s nice that once a year people make it their business to see a bunch of movies that they otherwise might not have seen and develop strong opinions about them.

a thing I have been thinking about since putting indestructiboy out into the world: state violence and resistance to it are as fundamental as the atom bomb was to superheroes in the 60s, the great fear that’s in the air and defines morality for an entire generation
