My late father, Lloyd Grizzle, was a fan of Wendell Berry’s poetry, novels, and essays. Dad would have loved this poem. Wendell Berry is 91 years old and is still getting published in The New Yorker. This is from November 17, 2025.

On the same day that Congress denounced socialism, Trump emerged from meeting Zohran Mamdani gushing about the mayor-elect.

The contradictory reactions suggest a mad scramble to respond to his undeniable popularity.

The Right Can’t Figure Out What to Do With Zohran Mamdani
Between President Trump heaping praise on Zohran Mamdani and the GOP-led Congress denouncing socialism, yesterday revealed a capitalist opposition throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks.

Althea the Cat is jumping from window to window in the sunroom to monitor the activities of the chipmunks outside. I had to move Godzilla out of the windowsill and onto the writing desk for his own protection.
