Remember at the last election hydrocarbon breathers were all like 'EVs are shit, you can't do anything with them vote National & end this EV subsidy shit'.

Not 2 years into that anti-EV term...

Still on their bullshit that complex systems like healthcare can be successfully maintained if you slash all the budgets that provide the support the staff need to do their jobs. Like a racing team keeping its drivers but cutting the car budget.

Could I politely suggest that looking down on the less fortunate to prop up one's own self worth isn't something we should be encouraging with policy approaches.
Absolutely fuck all the way off with this shit. What a ghoulish thing to say.

Even worse, they are proposing to:

❌️ limit the number of subsidised trips a user can take
❌️make it harder and more bureaucratic to use
❌️limit it to wheelchair users only
❌️exploit Uber drivers more

It's a sh*tty proposal and will severely limit the ability of disabled ppl to get out and about

You really shouldn't vote for centrist Labour.

They lack the vision, gumption, and motivation to change New Zealand.

If you’re looking for a lift- and for policy that doesn’t hide bare minimum ideas behind the rhetoric of progress - take a look at the Greens platform.
For me, a timely reminder that we don’t move forward by lowering our expectations, but by affirming that hard things can and should be done.👇

Some bird friends I saw on this trip. Nice close-up of the kāruhiruhi taken from the boat (pictured in the background of the QT); first time I've taken it in a while.

(And if this leads to complaints in n elections time that "the Greens are too centrist! We need to vote for $radicalparty for real change!", then that is what success looks like)

And when this bunch of losers don't win, they blame everybody else rather than admitting their own shortcomings. Then they buy another house.

We need the Greens to eat them from the left and make them irrelevant.

And there's no personal incentive to work hard for victory: safe seats and a list policy of protecting incumbents menas they'll get their $160K a year regardless.

So of course they don't fight. They don't need to. They've got theirs, and the rest of us can go to hell.

They may have once had) some goodwill, but there's not the burning urgency to Make Things Different. And so all they do is tinker round the edges, or disclaim even that.

They inspire no-one and please no-one.

(And yet, somehow, Labour not pulling their weight will mysteriously become the Greens' fault. Because being a status quo party means never having to admit your own failures)

Anyway, part of the problem is who Labour is now. The Greens are an activist party, who want Change. Labour is a status quo party, stuffed with status quo people who benefit from things mostly being the same. Their real interest is a job, not change.

They've had a decade of MPs salaries ($160K / year), they have housing portfolios which they want to increase in value; they're rich, so they don't want to be taxed; they don't use govt services, so they don't see their necessity.

BONKERS!

The Luxon Govt’s rewrite of the RMA laws allows companies to claim financial compensation (from taxpayers) when councils introduce rules to limit pollution or protect the environment.

Let that sink in.
