3 years since I wrote this. Finally Defra's announced it'll move to ban lead in ammunition after a 3-year transition.

A win for the environment & food chain. Expect those with vested interests to lobby & seek to dilute the legislation as much as possible

We all recognise smoking kills , that's why tobacco ads were banned in 2002 . Fossil fuels kill too & according to a study in BMJ , cause 5.1 million deaths per year .

We've focussed on the big names , Shell , Exxon , BP , but these companies are run by people . People who hide behind those brands to keep their anonymity

After a tip-off from a wild camper, we went to investigate a recent moorland burning incident on Dartmoor this weekend.

It's in an SSSI & SAC, on peat over 40cm deep, & on land belonging to... Alexander Darwall.

So did @naturalengland.bsky.social, DEFRA and Darwall give permission for this burn?

That 23% drop in the number of English farms from 2005 to 2023 is worth unpacking a bit, because the data tell a completely different story to the ones the Lib Dems want you to believe.
