My heart goes out to the Australian Jewish community this morning. Hanukkah should be a time of celebration, of bringing light into the world.

In the face of this atrocity we offer our love, solidarity and prayers to our Jewish friends in Australia, Scotland and across the world.

Amazing turnout despite the dreich weather for @edinburghgreens.bsky.social doorknocking around Leith & Newhaven today.

Lots of folk dissillusioned with governments at Holyrood & Westminster and warm to the positive message of the Greens.

🐦‍⬛Greens secure ‘swift bricks’ on new buildings!

💚This is a great day for Scotland’s birds.

I am delighted that MSPs from across different parties have backed this small and simple step for nature.

It is unfortunate that the UK government has opposed similar moves in England.
Swifts are in serious decline, with their UK population falling by 66% since 1995.

Moments ago MSPs backed our amendment to install low cost swift nesting bricks in new buildings.

This small act will make our communities more liveable for birds and help swifts recover.

Taking a women against the far right organising call from a pub in Leith - not ideal.

We really need more third spaces and cafes open in the evening in Edinburgh, for organisers, freelancers, gig workers and non-drinkers to collaborate and rest.

We cannot make the systemic changes in society that we need through parliamentary politics alone - we have to work hand-in-hand with our grassroots activists & the wider Green and socialist movements.

Locally and nationally, @scottishgreens.org are representing working-class interests and providing a real left-wing alternative - the very things I had hoped to do as a Labour councillor.

I will continue to spend every day trying my very best to serve the people of Sighthill/Gorgie.

For the benefit of future historians wondering how the Labour Party died; the answer is this quote.

"I've never worried about the future of our country under a Tory government"
Keir Starmer - "I’ve always wanted a Labour government but I’ve never worried about the future of our country under a Tory government."

The words of a man so insulated from the harm done by the Tories he felt no compulsion not to continue the harm not being done to him and his.

🌍 The Scottish Government must urgently revise its climate plans to meet the scale of the emergency. That means restoring climate ambition, acknowledging the science and taking real action to decarbonise our economy in a way that supports workers and protects our environment 👇
