Today is scary. My first poem has officially been published to Rust & Moth! It’s been such a weird and long road to get here but I’m a published writer (of sorts) now. I don’t know what to do now but be hopeful that you enjoy it. Thanks. Bless.

Remember our joy pop-up? It’s going to keep popping. We’re permanently opening subs for flashes of joy (well, as permanent as anything, which is not very but you get the idea). If we love it and it’s joyful we’ll add it to the issue. Like a little library of joy.

I found this interesting and helpful. Maybe I’m used to banging my head against walls (I am) but I found it more enlightening than hopeless. We are always our own worst enemies but this offers insight into how to get a little more out of our own way. I’d be interested in other thoughts on it.
(This basically is what I wrote ONE MESSAGE REMAINS about, depressingly enough.)
I interviewed psychologist John Jost about this. He was curious why history contains so many long periods in which massive groups of people are oppressed by relatively tiny groups -- when, on a purely physical basis, the oppressed could overwhelm oppressors at any time. They just tend not to. Why?
