As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald. The Herald had obtained the names from two detainee rosters. Around 800 detainees showed no record on ICE’s
Loved the first two seasons of Interview with the Vampire so much that I’m reading the Anne Rice novels. So far I’m liking The Vampire Lestat more than the first book

If random men in masks claiming to be ICE agents try to grab me, and they’re *not* really ICE, I have the legal right to defend myself against them, yes? And if they are ICE, I don’t?
So how am I supposed to tell the difference? I’m supposed to give my masked kidnappers the benefit of the doubt??
I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles
Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.

Here’s the thing that I wish Americans would realize: ANYTHING is possible if we turn out in large enough numbers. Many other countries, at many times in history, have set this example for us. The people get furious and spill out onto the streets in the millions…and regime change happens. 🫰

This is a fever dream. The city is not under migrant occupation. This whole thing kicked off because ICE began an intense operation across the city to raid Home Depots and nail salons and places where random undocumented immigrants might be going about their day working a job.
The president exists in a dystopian fantasy world with no connection to reality

I keep thinking about how Ellie knew about the Apollo I mission, but not about pride flags. It’s deeply sad to think that Queer people became so isolated from their community and that no one outside of the Queer community passed on that history to Ellie #thelastofus

Should go without saying but the point of diversity in hiring is to find _better_-qualified candidates outside of stagnant social networks that don't reward merit, like the kind of network that would put an MTV personality with a marketing degree in charge of the Department of Transportation

Watched S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR (2022) on the big screen for the first time at Portland’s Hollywood Theater. One of my favorite movies in recent memory and still hits so hard in 2025 (for some reason) #filmsky
