Instead of forcing all Jewish Israelis to abnegate their existence and apologize for surviving (same for Palestinians btw), we should be promoting cross narrative dialogue and work that says “no one is going anywhere, how do we live in this one tiny slice of earth without killing each other.”

taste is an extremely important thing because of how much of the authoritarian AI revolution is fundamentally about aesthetics.

Why not everything in manufacturing is automated (yet)

Every few weeks I see someone wondering why so little of manufacturing, particularly in the United States, is automated. There are tons of reasons why, but it's still very difficult to set up robots to succeed: open.substack.com/pub/itcanthi...

anything that assumes control of individual behavior is simply not going to work in america. americans are very defensive of their private spheres. social distancing largely was a bottom-up process when it worked

Reader, he hasn't even referenced the fact we're about to do Iraq War 2: Clear And Stupid Danger *once* (I also searched other related terms with nothing, too)

The VP of our country went on television and explained that the fascist viewpoint on housing is to oppose building new housing, scapegoat immigrants, and pretend that you can solve homelessness by arresting people and re-distributing their now empty homes to "by rights" Americans.

so one half of this is that AI critics tend to be very delusional about the technology going away. but boosters are likely to be remembered in a way akin to, say, a fin de siecle personality that glossed over triangle shirtwaist fire

I think its worth noting by way of comparison that we have all of the technologies created in the mid to late 19th century but very little of the social, economic, and political conditions surrounding them in their time period would be recognizable to us. They were shockingly perverse
Idk on one hand the user numbers speak for themselves, but I do wonder what users are doing with their sessions and whether they’d be willing to pay, and whether ppl would really resist strong regulations

Like…these recent Gallup poll numbers are not good for AI

Left austerity will be a disaster
i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?
