Thinking about the UPS costs of updating a return and what that might involve and I might as well act the sucker and overpay the taxes because a few mailings would probably work out to almost as much and with way more hassle.

This is all very very stupid considering how very little money I made for the tax year. I guess my mistakes this round will be cheaper at least.

very annoyed and I have to UPS this shit before the store closes in 12 hours. I also very much need to sleep.

AH! Time to look up how to ammend a return, fines if I wait, or just give up and file to pay the self employment tax I don't technically owe.

The official IRS made guide for international taxpayers did not mention that this was a requirement and made it sound like it was just something do do for your own records. But this detail is buried in the Schedule SE instructions, a form you don't actually have to file in this situation.

Love to find out that I need to obtain and *submit* a statement from the government of Canada with my US taxes on the eve of filing deadline. And Monday is Thanksgiving, Tuesday is the deadline, who knows how long the turnaround is, and we're on a mail strike anyways.

Pales in comparison to everything else going on but the material of the everyman's clothes and bedding shifting from natural fibers to plastics is bleak.

We went and browsed around one of those mass market home goods stores and the vast majority of the bedding related items were polyester with polyethelene fill and I felt dead inside.

Feeling so adrift without my job but I have to remember that, for the rest of the year, my job is now House.

I spent the day at a gelli-plate printing workshop and I had so much fun!!!

And much like how it works with real world topics, a bunch of artists complaining/arguing/whatever to an audience of each other and the consumers will do incredibly little to effect any changes to the structures responsible for the shape of things.

this is the number one reason I avoid the wholesale following of animation people online. (The number two reason is I already see enough cartoons offline, I don't need my feed full of them too.)

In a place where you have to run the heat 2/3 of the year I'm sure sharing walls makes a HUGE difference. Even in Florida when my mom moved from her house to an apartment her electric bill cratered.

A lot of people commenting are focusing on commutes, etc as the main driver of this disparity but I suspect even more of it comes down to dwelling footprint and shared walls. I suspect the city's condo towers are doing a lot of heavy lifting here (and the prevalence of semis and rowhouses).

The Venn diagram of urban density and average household GHG emissions is pretty much a circle. Interesting study on “Mapping household GHG emissions in the Greater Golden Horseshoe” from the University of Toronto School of Cities schoolofcities.utoronto.ca/mapping-hous...

First played it on emulator in high school and became obsessed. It plays like a SNES game. So much sophistication in the craft from every department. Makes a lot of sense given the year, but still, wow.
