Says the Pentagon will treat these alleged drug smugglers “EXACTLY how we treated Al-Qaeda.”

I can think of a few relevant differences between the two, eg 9/11, etc.

Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on another narco-trafficking vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO) in the Caribbean.

This vessel—like EVERY OTHER—was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics. Three male narco-terrorists were aboard the vessel during the strike, which was conducted in international waters. All three terrorists were killed, and no U.S. forces were harmed in this strike.

These narco-terrorists are bringing drugs to our shores to poison Americans at home—and they will not succeed. The Department will treat them EXACTLY how we treated Al-Qaeda. We will continue to track them, map them, hunt them, and kill them.

Frankly, there are now many such stories among folks doing highly complex technical work. AI exhibits, as @emollick.bsky.social and others have noted, "jagged" capabilities (sometimes remarkably good, sometimes catastrophically bad). That's a more complex story than "useless hype" or "AGI soon".

I had a bug in my new ML-DSA implementation that caused Verify to reject all signatures. I gave up after half an hour. On a whim, I threw Claude Code at it. Surprisingly (to me!) it one-shotted it in 5 minutes.

FWIW, "legacy media" is one of Musk's favorite terms to discredit any and all journalism; IMO it's not a useful category by itself. "For-profit media" would be a more useful distinction from high integrity nonprofits outlets, regardless of how long they've been around.

SUBJECT: Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions
for Fiscal Year 2026
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the
laws of the United States, in accordance with section 207 of the
Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1157), and after appropriate
consultations with the Congress, I hereby make the following
determinations and authorize the following actions:
The admissions of up to 7,500 refugees to the United States during
Fiscal Year 2026 is justified by humanitarian concerns or is otherwise
in the national interest.
The admissions numbers shall primarily be allocated among Afrikaners
from South Africa pursuant to Executive Order 14204, and other victims
of illegal or unjust discrimination in their respective homelands.
Refugee admissions under this determination, which may reach but not
exceed the numerical limit described herein, are in all respects
subject to the requirements of other Presidential policies and
actions, whether issued prior or subsequent to this determination.
Those Presidential policies and actions include, but are not limited
to: Executive Order 14161, which mandates that refugees receive the
most stringent identification verification of any class of alien
seeking admission or entry to the United States; Executive Order
14163, which suspends the entry into the United States of refugees
other than when the Secretaries of State and Homeland Security jointly
determine that an admission is in the national interest and does not
threaten the security or welfare of the United States; Executive Order
14204, which provides for refugee resettlement of Afrikaners from
South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination; and
