Been polishing tiles with an unknown noxious substance all afternoon and made myself feel sick. At least that's my cue to stop polishing tiles

Watching Antiques Roadshow and they had a mid-century restaurant menu that had orange juice as a starter - I remember orange juice being a starter when I was a kid 👵🏼

This needs to go as viral as that stolen cat story the other week. Shame is the only thing that works

Every time I see a US press conference they've dug up some new ultra fascist. Who tf is Bovino, looking like a henchman in a military coup? And I swear Stephen Miller didn't exist until about 3 months ago

"Haas first team to reveal images of their 2026 car" then what was that whole Red Bull event about?

If it's Cary Grant's birthday, it must surely be time for me to post the "puppy in the jacket pocket" picture again. Be rude not to, really.

Submitted my tax return and we're not even into double digits of January yet 😌

Right, UK gaming folk - Revelation is an amazing, focused convention in Sheffield. Quality games in a great gaming location.

The early numbers have traditionally been threadbare and I've been forced to use a Cold Hard Stare to convince people they like fun.

Lets not do that this time. Come play!

One of the lesser talked about joys of being a sports fan is the pure pride and satisfaction you derive when they're praising your favourite guy. Every time they say Charles has had an "outstanding season" I feel such a warm glow inside

Every day I pray these things cannot actually be happening but it's too believable either way
French authorities are taking X to court because Grok is now doing straight up holocaust denial. Gas chambers intended for disinfection, cyanide residue tiny, ‘story’ persists because of taboo against critical examination. (Full translation in alt text)

Well, it's Ashes Eve, so time for me to pretend cricket doesn't exist for a couple of months 🫣

Have I ever mentioned my mortal fear of former BBC News substitute presenter Mishal Husain? Probably not, since it's not a big issue generally.

Anyway, best get to work

Lol it's hilarious that ticket platforms are crying that forcing them to restrict ticket resale prices to force value is a bad thing because it'll drive people to the black market and they'll get ripped off! As if they weren't being ripped off already

I want to go to the anti fascist protest but they say to wear non-bright coloured clothing and that presents a problem for me

Also it actually looks like a full on counter protest so it might be a bit too heavy for inexperienced me lol

I've watched quite a few decent horror/horror adjacent movies this October, but nothing that was actually scary. Have I watched all the stuff that's going to appeal to me?

Great article about the moral panic around the nebulous concept of "attention spans", or supposed lack thereof, and why we might possibly be looking for distraction in a broken fucked up world
My latest for @nowthenmag.bsky.social:
Who Remembers Attention Spans?

Half of people in the UK think their attention span has shrunk. With "doomscrolling" becoming an increasing concern for policymakers, I ask: but is this even real though?

Who Remembers Attention Spans?
Why can't we focus on anything these days? Sean Morley takes a brief interlude from checking the latest death tolls to investigate our belief in the shrinking attention span.

I've never seen Bladerunner, sorry Alex Turner

(There's tons of ubiquitous things I haven't seen, and never intend to tbh lol. Though I probably will watch Bladerunner one day)
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Wow I really miss being able to see what was going on in horror movies. Or any movies for that matter. Bring back the 20th century

Bloody hell, decision paralysis is exhausting. Not only "which of these options should I choose?" but will doing this insignificant thing give me the necessary emotional satisfaction to make it worth doing at all? And if not will it be a DISASTER that I'll regret for months even if nothing goes wrong
