Mask up, friends! And foes! I also want my foes to mask up! Everyone mask up! 😷
COVID-19 rates continue to take off across the U.S. as our summer surge hits every region. All metrics report substantial increases in SARS-CoV-2 spread in recent weeks — and the latest data are from early August, meaning levels may be much higher now than our reported numbers. bit.ly/4mgGDAP

More than a month ago, a 24 year old transgender woman known only as OJM was arrested by ICE agents in #Portland #Oregon for no reason.

After a month of community outcry and protests and occupations, a judge just ruled OJM must be freed.

What we're doing matters. #ICEOutOfPortland #FuckICE #PDX

I have heard around a dozen stories like this, and I don't know _that_ many people.
We are at a red-alert moment with queer stories right now. Literally this morning, I was chatting with a seasoned Hollywood producer who just had a project halted b/c executives were skittish about it being too gay. Not only is a mass-erasure of queer characters plausible... it's already begun.
I hope there's a course correction, but it's incredibly plausible that Hollywood's desire to not offend reactionaries ends up costing us 20-ish years of more diverse stories, roughly akin to the comparative drought of POC and queer stories in the '80s and '90s when compared to the '70s.

Down at #iceoutofpdx encampment demanding the immediate end of ICE’s contract in the city. A couple hundred here with permanent mutual aid and medical stations at all times, and growing as a 24/7 demo. #occupyice

Mahmoud should’ve never missed the birth of his child, or his first Father’s Day, or being with his wife during countless precious moments as a growing family. His release today underscores what so many of us have said. His detention was unjust. We need to end these disappearings.

It's been five years since Brooklyn Liberation / the March for Black Trans Lives. A seismic day that shifted the course of many lives.

Let’s remember that we are battle-tested + ready. The fight will be long, but our history, our community, and our collective vision of liberation will win.

Could you imagine the New York Times writing an article saying women were asking for too much with abortion rights and that they went too far?

That's effectively what they did here to trans people despite it being the same fight for bodily autonomy.

The SCOTUS ruling in U.S. v. Skrmetti confirms what we know: this government is crooked and ignorant. Trans kids deserve care, safety, and bodily autonomy. We must remind them of their history, the sacredness of community, and that no government gave them their power—and no court can take it away.
