You still have strawberries??! Super impressive.

Oh, what a lovely poem. Thanks for recommending it. Baking is an escape, even when the cake falls apart as you take it out of the pan.

I've never tried the topping! What could be bad about brown sugar?
emilymyers.bsky.social
Tell Ann I bake it in a bundt pan and don't do the topping. (NBsee prior photo for results of bundt pan success)

Your resident baker probably has more skill in getting it out of the pan...

That's gorgeous. I like the way you carefully crafted those "icebergs" out of pastry.

It's not fall until I make my grandma's apple cake recipe. Last year's cake (quoted post) vs. this year's cake.

I'm sure there's no metaphorical interpretation of this.

Stop by my office for a handful of cake any time today!

Heavyweight is one of my favorite podcasts, and I was relieved to see it back after a long hiatus (Spotify cut it loose to pay for Joe Rogan —ahem—). This week’s episode is a quiet heartbreaker. overcast.fm/+ABNzfgKxvqs

Frog got a ladder. He put the box up on a high shelf. “There,” said Frog. “Now we will not eat any more cookies.”

“But we can climb the ladder and take the box down from the shelf and cut the string and open the box,” said Toad.

“That is true,” said Frog.

Why are we so good at adapting to "sub-optimal" speech? I argue, in this review paper, that adaptation may be driven by the combined action of dopamine and norepinephrine via prediction error signaling. It's early days with this idea, but I'm excited to have it out there and to keep exploring more!
