Just going to keep reminding people that ChatGPT doesn't know everything bc much of history will remain undigitized 🤗 📜
Pretty sure a librarian comes to my rescue about once a week but today three librarians collectively saved my life and I am very grateful. Good luck figuring out what the page numbers of things 100 years old and only held in special collections are while on a copyediting deadline without them.

Went to my first ever book club, had a nice time and met nice people, but of course will now spend a restless night replaying the stupid shit I said about books

they gleefully announce the llm solves a difficult problem and then you find out...they use it to respond to an email, format some python, arrange two meetings in an 8 hour period.

we are going to let these people burn the planet because we are too nice to tell them they sound stupid.
lately i've been thinking about how LLMs must feel really amazing to use if you're a dumbass, but incredibly frustrating if you're just basically competent in life.

i have posted before that i think you are an artist before you ever make a painting or song or book. i understand it is a unique perspective and that is okay, but i am thinking on it again after seeing post from buckaroo @scalzi.com specifically how it relates to my perspective on grief and death
Proposition: You become a writer the moment you write, a musician the moment you make music, a painter the moment you paint, etc. You become an artist the moment you find your own voice as a writer/musician/painter/etc.

Yes? No?

I'm not able to take part in #RetroChallenge this year, but I've just spent a few minutes enjoying last year's writeup of my #Sharp #MZ80K emulator for the #RaspberryPiPico . The plan for winter is to have a bash at #MZ700 emulation - faster clock & colour too!

Nothing like the smug feeling you get watching an outrageously atrocious series of #LoveIsBlind where everyone's getting shredded in the edit, god that show has absolutely nailed offering comfort/catharsis by comparison.

It's honestly magic to have found a second career where this is both true and rewarding/rewarded. Opening a million tabs to discover why some code works/doesn't feels as fun (to me, anyway) as falling down a research hole for a play.

The office cold has claimed me and for some reason this one is doing weird shit to my ADHD. Been a while since I've had that hyperactive, phased-out feeling of not being in the driver's seat of your own brain while your body bumps from room to room, doing half of everything. 🫠
