Mist underrated technology in the world is "a bus." Some bus. Any bus. A bus where or when there isn't currently a bus. Busses for all.

Agreed. However, until the MRV protocols are fully feasible, implementable, and enforceable, CDR serves mainly to amplify moral hazard and therefore represents a net drag on progress toward climate re-stabilization
Our new 'Monitoring, Reporting and Verification for marine Carbon Dioxide Removal' document presents the state of MRV-readiness for different mCDR methods. The bottom line? More robust, comprehensive MRV frameworks are needed: www.marineboard.eu/publications...

This video is well worth the time. It shows why we need an urgent innovation strategy in autos in the US. Walking back CAFE standards - or even the standards themselves - are not adequate. But also, it is a great illustration of why an undervalued currency can transform what is possible in exports.
Marques Brownlee’s review of the Xiaomi SU7 EV. This car is faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo S, well built, nicely designed, and is $42k.

This is why they put tariffs on Chinese EVs even though the best selling Lincoln sold in the US is made in China.

Ra is pissed
Tomorrow, we may see a strong, G3 geomagnetic storm and auroras occuring further equatorward than usual. This is in response to a coronal mass ejection (CME) heading towards Earth. Impact may occur sometime Monday night into Tuesday. Here's what's happening and what to expect 🧵

This is in no way an attempt to dunk on Roberts but if the energy policy space would take viewpoints from the environmental justice space more seriously then there would not have been such a widespread misunderstanding of what the GOP was going to do and why they were serious about the threats.
In my world (energy policy), to a first approximation, *everyone* underestimated how bad Republicans would be this time around.

So my basic question is: has anyone updated their priors? Revised their analytical categories? Learned anything from this? Will do things differently next time? Anyone?

Choose one:
Global Climate Apocalypse vs. Locally Abundant Parking?
City: We unanimously declare a climate emergency! We must make change no matter what the cost, humanity's survival depends on it!

Community: Can we put in a protected bike lane to get more people cycling.

City: No, we'll lose parking spots.

Permitting rollbacks are popular with project developers and finance bros who just want to make money… they don’t care about the environment, and they fund BOTH political parties
I mean, if permitting reform is supposed to make it easier to build fossil fuels AND clean energy, and Trump and the GOP are, uh, “using an expanded definition of executive power” to suppress clean energy, then permitting reform will just mean more fossil fuels.

Hillary Clinton should realize her criticism only makes TikTok look cool and more trustworthy
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.
