With mere hours left to go in Hispanic Heritage Month, we put the finishing touches on our storymap we created with our partners @greenlatinos.org that celebrates the contributions Latinos have made to Environmental Justice. It is but a portion of the story but I really hope you'll engage with it.
Hispanic Heritage Month 2025
Editor’s Note: The extent of Hispanic and Latino/a/e peoples is broad and multidimensional.  Although many will try to describe us as homogenous and as one in the same, we recognize that could not be ...

Now that my wife's green card arrived in the mail today I finally feel safe to say how absolutely horrendous it was that we had to discuss what to do in this exact scenario when we went into USCIS for an interview.

The plans + contingencies we had to come up with. Not the country I grew up in.
Gut wrenching: “I had to take our baby from my crying wife’s arms,” Mr. Paul, 33, said, recalling the moment that agents said they were arresting his wife, Katie.

Ms. Paul was sent to an immigration detention center with hundreds of other people swept up in the Trump administration’s crackdown.”

This is huge
big late breaking news: the market monitor for the largest energy grid in the u.s., covering much of the midwest and mid-atlantic, has called to block new data centers connections to the grid, saying current course of growth assures regular blackouts
No more PJM data centers unless they can be reliably served: market monitor
The PJM Interconnection’s market monitor urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule that large data centers can only come online if the grid operator can still meet reliability metrics.

Mamdani just played Trump without sacrificing immigrants, Muslims, workers, or the LGBTQ.

Trump did his transactional charm offensive, Mamdani countered without compromising.

He won big and this is the man the Democratic Establishment still won't embrace.

What more do people need to see?

A majority of voters also support cutting emissions and phasing out fossil fuels, even when posed against arguments that it would raise costs or hurt fossil fuel companies.

Academia is a really racist and sexist place. Larry Summers, as the president of Harvard, epitomized that racism and sexism but he is not unique. That's why we needed DEI.

Listening to some world-famous "climate leaders" and I’m absolutely exhausted by how we’ve strapped ourselves inside a careening plane made up of neoliberal climate solutions. Basically, they’d rather we die than divorce capitalism. The parallels w the Democratic party could not be more obvious.

Is national policy more responsive to the preferences of white Americans than to those of people of color? When Republicans control the presidency and/or the Senate, yes. White voters are more likely to see legislation they support become law than are Black, Latino, or Asian American voters.

This is an important paper at @apsrjournal.bsky.social. It's not exactly surprising that racism undermines effective representation, but it is well and carefully done. Congrats to @markarianga.bsky.social, @jacobhacker.bsky.social, @maclockhart.bsky.social, and Hajnal
